Details

Highly adapted to life on the cold, rocky slopes of Central Asia’s high mountains, the snow leopard is a master of stealth and camouflage. Very rarely seen by humans, it has come to be known as the ‘ghost of the mountains’.

Hemis National Park established in 1981 is home to a number of endangered species such as the Himalayan marmot, bharal or the blue sheep and the ibex and one of the best places to see a snow leopard. It also has a diverse trans-Himalayan avian assemblage. During our previous explorer visit, we sighted a mating pair of snow leopards for almost six hours. The explorers also saw bharal, pika, woolly hare, chakur pheasant, golden eagle, lammergeier, Himalayan griffon and many other Trans-Himalayan birds. This spring, more such excitement awaits! Images taken are from our previous trips.

So adventure-seekers, hustle up your gear and come with us to enjoy the white winter in this surreal beautiful Himalayan locale.
